Meeting their needs
For individuals who have been convicted of a crime that meet specific circumstances, district attorneys will work through special courts that are uniquely designed to maintain offender accountability while providing them with access to resources for their respective needs.
Drug Courts
Judicial Districts: 1, 5, 6, 8, 17, 19, 22
People suffering from substance abuse related to their crime of conviction are often sentenced in drug courts to a rehabilitation program with individualized requirements and conditions for compliance.
DUI Courts
Judicial Districts: 8
Rather than receiving an extended prison sentence, people suffering from alcohol addiction who are convicted multiple times for drunk driving can receive treatment for their substance abuse issues.
Juvenile Courts
Judicial Districts: 1,
Separate from the adult criminal justice system, juvenile courts pursue a civil process to handle crimes committed by people ages 10-17. Treatment is emphasized as offenders are held accountable for the harm that was caused.
Mental Health Courts

Individuals who suffer from mental health issues related to the crimes they have been convicted of are provided with treatment services and resources while being closely supervised by the court.
Veterans Courts
Judicial Districts: 1, 4, 17, 18
Veterans and active-duty military who have been screened by the district attorney for service-related trauma connected to the crimes they are were convicted of are offered the opportunity to receive treatment for substance abuse, mental health concerns or physical injuries from combat.
