Train the Trainer: SB26-149 ONLY
This training will walk through and discuss the most significant changes to competency and involuntary civil treatment created by SB 26-149. This training will provide a broad overview of the major changes and then drill down into key aspects, including:
-Reorganization of Article 8.5 of Title 16
-Changes to restorability hearings, including the burden shift to defense
-The new NGRI-like dangerous person pathway, including procedure, trials, supervision, and termination
-Changes to civil treatment pathways
We reserved 3 hours for this training because of the breadth and complexity of this bill and to ensure there is sufficient time to ask and answer questions. This training is limited to one or two subject-matter experts from each office who will, in turn, train their respective offices.
This will be a hybrid training, both in person and virtual options will be available!
