The duties of a Deputy District Attorney II (DDA II) focus primarily on the prosecution of a large County Court docket, in addition to supervising and overseeing the other County Court Attorneys in La Plata County. A DDA II is the lead prosecutor on a prosecution team in La Plata County Court and is responsible for ensuring the successful management of an extremely high-volume caseload.
The DDA II handles all county court and DMV appeals to District Court. The DDA II shall assist, when needed, with felony cases and trial work, the Archuleta County Court, and/or San Juan County docket.
The work is often highly stressful and adversarial, dealing with agitated and angry individuals. A DDA II must be able to perform under pressure and make good decisions with imperfect information. Deadlines are frequent, short and inflexible.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
LLB or JD degree.
1-2 experience is required.
