How Societal Messaging Impacts Jurors and Your Case
Workshop Description
This free workshop is limited to current District Attorney Office personnel.
This interactive workshop addresses and identifies the complex ways that media influences society and impacts diverse populations. Social mediums influence society by creating normalized thoughts and behaviors surrounding perceptions of relationships that harm marginalized communities and forms dynamics that perpetuate domestic and sexual violence.
These social mediums include language, movies, music, advertisements, highly publicized domestic violence cases, and more. We will also share the social-ecological model to see how change can happen.
Participants will be given an opportunity to get into breakout rooms to share their thoughts, brainstorm ideas on how societal messages impacts jurors as well as if and how this information will change working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Due to the nature of the material portrayed in various social mediums, this presentation contains some content and images that might be considered graphic.
