Job Description
The District Attorney’s Office for the 8th Judicial District is looking for attorneys interested in joining a great team, where you can use your skills and education working in the criminal justice system to help your community.  The 8th Judicial District includes Larimer and Jackson Counties in Colorado.  Our main office is located in Fort Collins, with satellite offices in Loveland and Walden.
Deputy District Attorney III is an experienced District Court level prosecutor generally reflecting multiple years of prosecution experience and prior handling of felony level matters. A Deputy District Attorney III is generally responsible for prosecuting all felony criminal matters. An attorney in a Deputy District Attorney III role is expected to function at an advanced skill level and exercise significant independent discretion and judgment on matters related to work procedures and methods. This position will be prosecuting felony criminal matters and may handle juvenile or special victim cases.
We are looking for a candidate that will:
- Have at least 3 years of experience as a prosecutor for a district attorney’s office.
- Examine evidence, witness statements, the nature of the crime, and whether the evidence justifies continued prosecution; and makes independent filing decisions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
- Know about legal principles and practices with a specialization in Colorado criminal law.
